With the Consular Services Portal, the Federal Foreign Office has created a central contact point for applying for services at German missions abroad online. In a first step, this applies to visa applications for the EU Blue Card for skilled workers, the Opportunity Card, various visas for taking up work and for carrying out a qualifications analysis.

An appointment at the Representative Office in Ramallah will only be necessary to provide biometric data such as fingerprints and to pay the fee.

This is how the online-application works

The online application is made via the website of the Consular Services Portal (https://digital.diplo.de). Applicants can create a user account there and, after registering, submit the application online. The same data will be requested as for a paper application. Necessary evidence or supporting documents can be attached as PDF documents.

After sending the application and documents via the Consular Services Portal, the Representative Office checks if the documents are complete, requests corrections if necessary and arranges an appointment with the applicant to submit the biometric data. For legal reasons, the identity check and the taking of photos and fingerprints, as well as the payment of the processing fee, must still be carried out on site at the Representative Office. By applying online, the appointment is optimally prepared. This makes the appointment at the Representative Office faster and more efficient.

You can apply using a PC, tablet or smartphone. Applicants can also use the system to find out about the status of processing. However, applying online is not mandatory. As before, applications can still be submitted in person at the Representative Office.

What comes next?

In the future, further applications will be submitted via the Consular Services Portal, including applications for family reunification and German passports.
