Germany and its partners celebrate the opening of the first „Employment Corner“ in Palestine

On December 11th, the German Representative Office in Ramallah and GIZ celebrated with their partners the opening of the „Employment Corner“ at the Ramallah and Al Bireh Chamber of Commerce and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on their future cooperation in the sector of employment exchange.

Addressing the audience during the signing ceremony the Deputy Head of Development Cooperation at the German Representative Office, Dr. Rachel Folz stated: „By establishing this ‘Employment Corner’,   we aim at facilitating the matching between the demand and supply of the labour market.“ We do hope that this approach will contribute to reduce the unemployment in Palestine and to fill job vacancies with qualified young people for the benefit of the private sector,„ she added.

The “Employment Corner„, which is the first of its kind in Palestine, is the result of increased cooperation between the public and the private sector. This project is realized because of the support provided by the German Federal Government through the “TVET and Employment Promotion Programme„ which is implemented by the GIZ, in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce. 

The “Employment Corner„ will be operated jointly by the Ramallah Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Labour and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Through the “Corner„, job seekers can find open job opportunities whereas companies can find matching candidates for their job vacancies. In addition to job opportunities, the “Corner„ will also be a focal point for finding internships and in-job training opportunities – especially for young graduates who are in transition from education to employment.
